During my time with the the Division of Student Affairs, I was tasked with writing a monthly newsletter for IU Indianapolis families.
The Family Connections newsletter aims to inform readers of on-campus events, resources, and important dates. Steps in creating the Family Connections newsletter was as follows:
Flu Vaccine Clinics at IU Indianapolis
With summer ending, flu season is on its way—and fast! Your student can be prepared by visiting IU Indianapolis’s low to no cost flu clinics hosted throughout the semester. Remind them to bring their insurance card!
Signups are open for fall 2024 intramurals
There are a variety of fall intramural leagues to choose from including soccer, flag football, cornhole, and more. Your student can pick the perfect league for having fun and practicing their team spirit. All they need is a Campus Recreation membership and to sign up by the deadline.
IU Indianapolis’s rainy homecoming event was a resounding success
On September 28, hundreds of IU Indianapolis faculty, staff, students, and alumni gathered with Indianapolis community members at Military Park for a full day of Regatta festivities. The rainy forecast didn’t keep Jaguars from putting on a dazzling display of canoe racing, performances, and festival fun.
A big shoutout to all of our families who came to our one-of-a-kind homecoming event as part of Family Weekend! We loved seeing parents, families, and supporters cheering on our Jaguars.
In August of 2024, I was tasked with redesigning an Instagram story template for monthly use by IU Indianapolis’s Division of Student Affairs to inform students about upcoming events on campus.
The original design was done by a previous intern, and my manager decided it was time for the Monthly Roundup to be given a visual refresh.
For the new design, I wanted to implement a visual, evergreen theme that infused IU brand elements with a fun and casual aesthetic that made the information-heavy content feel more approachable. The fun and casual vibe, conveyed with stickers and notebook paper, also aligns with the Division of Student Affairs’ social media presence.
I included the Division of Student Affairs sticker throughout the story slides for a consistent and visual division tie-in.The month- and season-specific stickers throughout the story designs are meant to add to the designs’ dynamism and marry the written content to the visual theme.
Additionally, the stationary-inspired design is meant to evoke connections with academic environments very familiar to the Monthly Roundup’s target audience of college students.
